    我

    我一直很喜欢画画，但父亲说家里有一个画家就够了，所以我选择了做一名小裁缝，毕竟衣服大家还是要穿的。9岁到达澳大利亚后我坚持不学英语，只说上海话。坚持读中文，学习中国文化，特别是家乡上海的那些人文故事。

    2004年我毕业于墨尔本皇家设计学院服装设计双学位，此后我担任了数家当地服装品牌的设计师和设计插画师。2007年我推出了个人女装品牌YUXIN BEI，全澳销售。2011年回国后，我担任了一年东华大学服装设计教师。目前我任教于中法埃菲时装设计学院，但大部分时间还是躲在自己的工作室内。

    她

    她生活在上海。她还住在上海。我经常看到她的身影穿梭在这个城市拥挤的弄堂内，好像她看上去很忙。

    这个展览是送给‘她’的。我试图溜进她的私密空间，瞧瞧她喜欢的装扮，看她欣赏的玩意，寻找她的气氛，她的生活。

    人模上穿着的服装，我想这是她在这个城市存在的一个标志。这些衣物形成了她的味道，呼吸着她的气息，陪着她走过每条弄堂和角落。

    Me

    I like to draw, but my father said having one artist at home is more than enough, so I became a clothing designer, at least people need to dress themselves.  Upon arrival in Australia, I refused to speak English and continued my exploration in Chinese culture, especially the stories of my hometown-Shanghai.

    In 2004 I graduated from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.  My double degree in Fashion Design and Arts earned me design and illustration positions in various Australian fashion houses.  In 2007 I launched my self titled womenswear label YUXIN BEI, selling across Australia.  Come 2011, I lectured Fashion Design at Dong Hua University in Shanghai for one year.  Currently I am with IFA Paris, however most of my time is still spent hiding behind my studio.

    HER

    She lived in Shanghai.  She still lives in Shanghai.  I see her shadow strolling down the alley ways of this crowded city, she looks very busy. 

    This exhibition is for ‘Her’.  I try to creep into her personal space, to see what she enjoys to wear, what are her sensitive areas, what is her mood of the moment, what forms her lifestyle.

    I imagine that the garments are there to ensure her existence in this city.  They piece together her identity, they breath her scent, they accompany her everyday through the alleys of Shanghai.
